Throughout history, sleep has been associated with trust, comfort, and restoration; a refuge from the burdens of the day. We can’t think of a better way to describe our profession. Our name: Invigilo, means “I stay awake, watch over,” and that is exactly what we do. We provide anesthesia for you while you are undergoing surgery, ensuring that you remain asleep, safe, and comfortable throughout the duration of your procedure. We look forward to being your refuge, and are honored to be part of the team helping you tackle your healthcare burdens.
Before surgery:
When you arrive, you will be greeted by your healthcare team and be given some paperwork to fill out, which will include a consent form for the administration of anesthesia. You will also meet your anesthesia provider and have an opportunity to discuss the anesthesia plan and any concerns that you may have.
During surgery:
Prior to the start of your procedure, you will have an IV line placed by the nursing staff and will be placed on monitors to watch your heart rate, oxygen level, and blood pressure. You will also be given supplemental oxygen to breathe. Your anesthesia team will administer the anesthesia medications via the IV line, and your CRNA will remain with you throughout the duration of your surgery, ensuring that you are safe and comfortable.
After surgery:
After your procedure, you be transferred to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), also known as the “recovery room,” where you will continue to be monitored by your healthcare team. If you experience any discomfort or nausea, these can be treated in the PACU as needed. Once you have safely recovered from the procedure and anesthesia, you will be discharged from the PACU to your home or to your hospital room.
